EAA Chapter 145 Meeting: Friday June 8 at 7:00pm The June meeting will be at Riverview Airport in the back room.
This months meeting is a history of the EAA B-17, “Aluminum Overcast”. We will take a look at where the B-17 came from, how EAA restored the B-17 and how it is used to promote aviation. Your chapter has been involved with the restoration and flights of the “Aluminum Overcast” over the years. Chapter photos and videos will be shown to remind you of our past involvement. With the B-17 coming to Grand Rapids in August, you have another chance to work with this great bird. Also if you have any materials, videos, or photos of the B-17 you would like to share, bring them to the meeting. Looking forward to seeing you there and bring a friend. Dick Foster called last months meeting to order at 7:00PM with 15 members & one guest present. The “open house” at Riverview on June 2, 2007 was discussed. Chapter 145 agreed to help by selling lunch, displaying aircraft and helping with Young Eagle flights (Update) The lunch brought in $280.00.Thanks to all, with over 60 YE flying.
Hugh reported that he received preliminary information that the B-17, Aluminum Overcast, will come to Grand Rapids on August 2-6. He talked to the people at Ford Airport; Northern Air doesn’t want to host the B-17 and Rapid Air wants to host the B-17, but has taxi-way construction going on. More information should be available at this meeting.
