EAA Chapter 145 Meeting: Friday February 9 at 7:00pm
The February meeting will be at Riverview Airport (check the back room)
The program this month will give the details about a remarkable Spitfire that was brought back to life. We will be able to trace the aircraft from the moment it took shape at a Midland factory in 1943 to 35 years later when it was discovered in 17 tea chests in Scotland. Come on Friday and see the complete story of how the “Perfect Lady” was restored.
Something’s to think about discussing at this months meeting: · Riverview “open house” on June 3? This could be a Young Eagles day with lunch served? · Trip to Weeks Hanger will be April 20-22, more details at the chapter meeting. · Future programs, what type of information, activity or discussion would you like?
Last months meeting was caller to order at 7:30 by our President Hubert Eisen. Treasury report was given and approved: Dues and Hanger donations of $335.00 were received plus a special donation to the Chapter of $700.00 from anonymous. (Thanks) We had 16 members present with two guests, Phil Michmerhuizen with his wife Donna. Last months program featured the historical NOVA video titled “The wings of Madness”. This proved to be an interesting insight of how Santos Dumont

designed, built and flew a many types of aircraft in the early 1900s.
Phil is a well known member of Chapter 221 and he brought with him a book they put together called “3000 Hours of Flying Fun”. He flew a Cub to Alaska and back and there are many more adventures…it is a real good read. I have read just a few pages and I’m saving the rest till I’m setting on Padre Island next month. Thanks Phil. If you want a copy contact:

Dale Buttermore (29 YEs) was awarded a prize for his participation in YMCA Young Eagle flights at Allegan on Dec. 2, 2006. He didn’t pick up the prize, so it will be presented at this meeting. EAA headquarters notified Dick Foster that he had over 800 Young Eagle flights. On January 20, in cooperation with EAA221, he flew Boy Scouts at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, for a total of 817.
If any one has questions, comments or information about future EAA145 meeting, please contact Dick Foster (616-538-8849)
