Program for April 9 meeting:   Hugh has arranged for a speaker to give us healthy information about FAA physicals.  This will be a good meeting for all of us that have to stay healthy enough to fly.   Take care and we will see you at 10am. At the Riverview Airport.

Notes from EAA-145 meeting, 10am, Saturday 3/12/05

Chapter 145 met at Riverview airport.  Hugh was out of town so Dick Foster took charge of the meeting.  A business meeting was held at 9:30am.  Items for the chapter meeting were discussed.  The Chapter meeting started at 10:10am with 19 members and one guess.

Old business:  In mid April the GP-4 may be inspected by a “buyer”, and the meeting at the KISD aviation program in set for Saturday, June 11.  11 people are signed up for the April work party at Weeks Hanger in Oshkosh.

New business:  Discussions took place about future meetings, Todd w/KISD aviation program, Len w/51 project, Dennis w/ engines and Kalamazoo Air Zoo visit (cost?).

Program:  Mike Dubuis gave a detailed explanation on the steps he took to get started on his RV-9 project.  Mike gave us a chance to see the materials and the steps followed in getting his project under way.  He has finished the tail feathers and is currently working on the wings. Mike

gave us look at the finished parts in Jims “RV” hanger.  One thing was very clear to all who attended, Mike likes to build metal aircraft and it shows!  Thanks for the great program.

Sport Pilot Application/Certification Form Available
The form that sport pilot examiners and instructors use when issuing sport pilot certificates - 8710-11, “Airman Certification and/or Rating Application - Sport Pilot” - is now available for download on the FAA website http://forms.faa.gov/forms/faa8710-11.pdf as a PDF file. As of the end of February, 104 sport pilot knowledge tests have been taken with a pass rate of 92 percent, and a total of 52 other sport pilot general knowledge tests have been administered to sport pilot examiners and instructors with no failures, reports Martin Weaver, manager of the FAA’s Light-Sport Aviation Branch in Oklahoma City.

"That is a great accomplishment and reflects on the quality of the airman interested in becoming certificated as sport pilots and sport instructors and examiners," Weaver said.
